faulty roof

Post by scoopcav1 » Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:25 pm

I have tried to open my roof but nothing is happening(although it was ok last time). I have checked the handbrake connection as per the fact sheet, and the bleeper is working. Could it be the motor, and if so does anyone know where it is and how to access it...........

On mine, it was one of the motors. I had to get it seen to by a Bongo specialist (Adrian at Japan Direct in Bury, who is excellent). He used a lifting hoist. First, he removed the three covers in the headling at the back of the Bongo, which allowed him to move the roof back and free of the locking guides at the front. He was then able to raise the roof with the hoist to gain access to the motors. One of them had burned out (no idea why) but had also pulled its mountings out of the roof. He glued these back in with special epoxy, then fitted a spare motor he had. His charges were very reasonable and all is fine now although the roof seems to raise a little slower with the 'new' motor.

There are threads on here about roof raising problems - worth a search. 8)

The control unit sits behind the plastic in the rear offside pillar, if you have a side conversion it might be a bit of a problem to access :-(
The unit is shown on this wiring diagram as M2-01;

It has a couple of relays at least in it but I don't have any further details, if you get a chance to take a look at it then any photo's you can put up would be appreciated.
