Oil cooler

Post by thedogsbollox » Fri Feb 04, 2011 12:36 pm

guys, I have found a leak on the oil cooler that sits behind the radiator. Think the leak is from the rubber hoses at the top. The thing is, is this cooler for engine oil or transmission oil? Would be a nightmare if I drained the wrong one. Even after draining, am I going to make a big mess? I can't seem to see any drain plug on it either, is there one?
Advice always greatfully received.
Tony.

hi tony, dont know what you have there but there isnt an oil cooler(engine) rad.
the gearbox oil is cooled in the bottom of the coolant rad, look for 2 small diameter pipes, one at each side. approx 10mm diam.
are you looking at the intercooler,if so it just contains air,but may have a tad of oil in the system.
these pipes are aprrox 3 inch diam, are these what your seeing.
