Well we decided to go on a bit of a cultural tour to Sunderland. No, not that Sunderland, the one in Lancashire where they used to run the slave and cotton ships from. The added attraction to this place is that you can only get there at low tide, the only road gets flooded twice a day so you need to check your tide times before you venture out!!

It’s a long causeway, so make sure you’re not going to get engulfed by an incoming tide

Image
All the houses have sturdy defences against high tides

Image
....or are on top of other houses like this “Upsteps Cottage”

Image
Now THAT’s what I call a set of gates

Cotton Tree Cottage :D

Some of the old warehouses have been converted into houses....

....with others squeezed in wherever possible

Off around to Sunderland Point, the tip of the peninsula. The ground is soft....

Time to stock up on all those smoked eels from the Port of Lancaster Smokehouse at Glasson Dock :D

Image
Erm, I don’t think so [-X

Image
Also a good opportunity to get all your scampi, salmon & tuna from Fleetwood

Image
....and get your tea from an award-winning chippy. Well they won the mushy pea category :?

Image
Hmmm, you’ve just got to do it

Its been years since I visited Sunderland and Glasson Dock, we had a caravan not far away (Scorton) and visited it regularly, especially the floating cafe at Glasson Dock,(dunno if its still there),nearly got caught a couple of times with the tides.
Nice one Muz ,brought back a lot of good memories. =D> =D> =D>

Brilliant Muz, as ever. I can't help thinking that the series of 'One Man and his Campervan' could be topped by a rival entitled 'Out and About with Bongo and the Muz's'.

You're like a one-family travelogue service for Bongo owners - fantastic =D> =D> =D>

PS - Mister Munkey has had the odd great moment too. Others also. And then there's the Russians. There must be a series here 8)
