Wired up blanking cover

Post by Dean » Tue Mar 01, 2011 11:57 am

Whilst fitting my plasma Gauges at the weekend I found a spot for the switch/rheostat, where two switch blanks were. I took one out and then noticed the others had a bunch of wires connected to it...any ideas what it could be. They are on the main dash to the right of the steering wheel

Thanks

Front fogs..? Where there 4 wires?? Could also be part of the redundant/south Japan not fitted "winter pack" loom?

From memory.. Red & black coded..?

Yup its the front fogs, I used the same place for my display controls, just a tiny bit of trimming of the metal plate and remove the central divider.

I'm planning to fit some RING driving lamps over the weekend. I've already purchased a fitting kit with relay etc but is using the existing wiring loom and adding a fuse and relay into fuse box also an option then?

Its an option if all the loom bits are there and can be located, BDC found his connectors down by the bumpers, not sure I have seen a spare relay socket up where the relay is factory fitted however (but I haven't looked that hard either!);

Cheers Geoff, if I don't decide to use the existing loom -I'll at least put the relay in the right place. It's amazing the level of detail on the wiring diagrams =P~

I don't know if my bongo is typical of all others, but my bongo didn't have factory fogs. I found a pair of plugs taped up behind the bumper (further inspections revealed the plugs had never been "plugged", and the tape was filthy and brittle indicating it had been there a long, long time)

I had to chop the plugs and spade the wires as i was fitting aftermarket foglights... Upon removing the blank where the "winter pack" switch should live, i discovered wires plugged into the rear of the blank,when i plugged them into a suitable mazda foglight switch i fired up the fogs, and was surprized that they worked! I never found the relay, but i could hear it clicking when the fogs were switched on! :D

I'm afraid i can't remember any more details as it was quite a few years ago when the fogs were fitted originally! :shock:
