This morning lowering the roof after the god sons slept in there ( on the drive I was tucked up in my warm cosy bed) the AFT was groaning a little and juddering .. Should I be applying something to the struts at the side and if so what please ?

Silicon grease to both sides of the bottom runners on both sides of the vehicle. Also, I polish the shiny bits of the hydraulic dampers - some use the silicon spray on those as well, but I'm probably a bit overcautious about mixing grease and seals #-o
