Can anyone suggest what may be wrong. For the first few miles the auto gears do not change properly and the engine stays in too lower gear and over revs or bumps into gear. When I am out for a while it seems to improve and work normally.
Can oil need changing or is there anything more serious going on. I am not a mechanic in any way so best course of action would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Auto Gearbox not changing properly
That sounds in some respects like normal behaviour for a Bongo autobox. Most noticeable on a cold winter morning than on a hot summers day. The box has to reach certain temps before the system allows it to change up normally.mickeymonkey wrote:Can anyone suggest what may be wrong. But the behaviour of yours does sound a little extreme. Have a search on here for things to check for and correct etc. before anything else
PS - put your location in your profile as maybe there is a techie owner near you who might offer to help.
Re: Auto Gearbox not changing properly
i would drop the sump on box and clean filter and renew fluid as a starter
Re: Auto Gearbox not changing properly
If that fails to solve the problem, (but do that anyhow as it will probably due a change) also change the fuel filter, a partially blocked fuel filter gives the same symptoms.

...but if you are not confiident about doing mechanical jobs, you could get a garage to do these jobs (Bongo specialist is perhaps best, or autobox specialist, if you have one local to you)mickeymonkey wrote:Can anyone suggest what may be wrong.
