Bongo stereos

Post by FowleS01 » Wed May 25, 2011 8:44 pm

Hello,

We are new to this, so apologies of it is a really simple question, but we would really appreciate some help.

We recently bought our first Bongo (that we are reall enjoying) but we badly need to put in a new Stereo.

If we take it along to the local Halfords are they likely to be able to sort us out, or does it need some more specialist care and equipment?

Thanks for your help, Simon and Jane :D

Hi
Halfords are excellent, you will probably require an adaptor but Halfords stock them.

Cheers..

I just this evening fitted a new double din radio with dvd,tv, satnav, bluetooth etc
all i needed was a mazda to iso converter cables 14.99 from halfords, cheaper online but I wanted it now.

The only slight problem was i could not work out the fixing bracket with the new one but it fitted exactly the cage from the old one so just used that

pretty easy DIY job to fit a radio.

£15!!! they're only a couple of quid on fleabay ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-CT20MZ01-Bo ... 45f61b8d13)

fit the stereo yourself, Halfords are a useless bunch, anything more than plug n play is too much for them!

The degree of help from Halfords seems to depend on the actual branch you use... You are more likely to get a better, cheaper solution if you google a local car stereo specialist in your own area.

I was pleasantly surprised at Halfords Chippenham the last time i went.. (A good while ago!) There was this guy in his early 20's knew what a Bongo was..! :D His mate in Bath had an aft, & was a pleasant experience at the store.. They do seem to do reasonable priced electronic gadgetry & then over price the peripherals to set these systems up....

I have a local "indie" car place in Corsham run by a dad & his lad if a need decent priced peripherals on the now! But, we don't all have the option as Halfords have done a Sainsburys, & they are open till about 21.00 over my way... :D
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

When I bought our stereo from Halfords I was amazed that both young guys behind the counter knew what a Bongo was when they asked what out vehicle was. Fitted the stero myself however as I have done a few in the past.

Everything works straight out of the box the sound is good to my uneducated ears, picture quality is great and the tv tuned in to the dvb channels with the supplied antenna with no problems (antenna is a mag-mount)
the instructions are basic and installation instructions nil except for a wiring diagram I got a mazda to iso converter and apart from the handbrake cable thats it, unless you want the reversing camera

I have no idea how the fixing bracket works, its shown on the page as 2 right angle bits of metal and screws

Can connect an ipod, sd card or flashdrive as well as the cd, dvd, tv and Radio and the sat nav works well too and can be viewed while the cd/radio is playing and the audio can over ride the sound from the radio or not as required.
the graphic equaliser seams basic but as I said mine are uneducated ears But I do want a subwoofer now (not sure I can wing that,,,,Yet  )

You might consider getting a dual DAB and fm unit. We have one fitted it myself using EBay adaptor . The antenna is a windscreen type by Blaupunkt
Origo bio stove - no Bongo!
