Rough diesel tickover

Post by briwy » Tue Jun 14, 2011 11:44 pm

Our new Bongo has a lumpy tickover at around 600rpm.

Absolutely fine with another 100 revs, goes well, very smooth.
Its a drive by wire diesel, just wondering if this is normal or if there is anything I can adjust to smooth it out.

Thanks for any info.

hi, dont know a dam thing about these pumps, but the figure quoted is too low,is that when its cold and first started from cold, or when its up to temp.
what does it do when you put the aircon on/off.

Would suspect the main fuel pump inlet seal, have seen those symptoms before on a few aero types. As said turning on the air con should pull the revs up a fraction, but on the late types it doesnt do it constantly like the early types

Thanks for the info.

Its under warranty at present so I'll wait a bit and see if it settles down as I'm not going to start messing with the pump unless it was a simple matter of turning a screw to up the tickover a bit.

Running the aircon does increase the revs a bit and smooth it out but it's obviously not a proper fix
