Front shock absorber gaiters

Post by dickandjill » Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:35 pm

Both front shock absorber plastic gaiters on my Bongo have split.
Is this an MOT failure as I have one due in a few weeks and need to know whether they need to be changed?
Where can I buy replacement gaiters from? Also what is involved in changing them? Does the whole suspension unit need to be removed from the vehicle to access the gaiter?
Thanks
Richard

no, but maybe an advisory, note you may kill your shocks if the splits allow dirt etc onto the shocks chrome surfaces

That's right Julien~i had an advisory on mine~any idea where to buy from.

Also as been said,i would have thought the suspension needs removing to put new ones on??

Thats good at least I won't have to do them immediately. (The MOT is next week)
I'll have to pop in to my local Mazda dealer to order a pair.
I'm surprised to see that you don't get them when you buy new front shocks!

Thanks for the replies
Cheers
