Towing tips

Post by Travis » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:37 am

Major possibility that I will have to get towed from behind out a muddy field. Any tips? Do I just slip auto gear box into N? Should I try and get tractor in front? Where do I put hook? Some folks here in big camper vans already had towing ring snapped.

Cheers

I would put it in S with the hold button engaged myself. If its muddy don't try to pull away in D without the hold engaged.

Towed out? In a Bongo. Nah! I would still do the same though just to help relieve the load. I take it you are 4x4?

Hi,
If you have the engine running the oil pump for the auto-box will be working, also you will have Brakes if you need to stop in a hurry. The Tractor driver will probably keep you right, regarding the actual tow.

The best of luck.

Rita is correct. Never tow an auto without the engine running, see THIS THREAD

Should never have doubted the bongo. Everyone getting towed out for £40 a go by the AA. Slipped him to S with hold pulled away first thing, no probs. Thanks everyone.

Ah now I see the problem......slipped HIM into S.....it's a MALE Bongo.....males can't multitask.....if it had been a HER.then there would have been no worries... ....that's what the wife told me anyway.....
