Pela pump query

Post by egor617 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 10:59 pm

I'm on the verge of buying a pela pump after reading about them on here , but 2 questions:
1- If i suck the oil up the engine won't i be dragging any bits of metal back up that are on the sump plug magnet?
2- Can i use it for different grade oil in my other car or will it be contaminated by the bongo oil?

Hopefully yes, you'll be sucking out anything in the oil, there's not usually a magnetic plug in the bongo though, hopefully there aren't to many bits of metal, or you may have more serious issues. It's not sucking it through the engine, it sucks through a tube that is put (gently, beware the perils of being too forceful - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=50645 ) down the dipstick hole.
Contamination shouldn't be an issue, you are sucking out, not pumping in, you can clean the pump if necessary, different grades of oil to a tiny percentage won't "contaminate" anyway.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
