Hi all,

Ihave just changed my glow plugs after the normal chugging start issues and clouds of smoke on start up from cold.
I did buy the wrong size 83mm instead of the longer ones but with a tweak to the fuel rail it went back together with no problems at all.
Then i noticed that the furthest forward gizmo on the bracket that you need to remove to access number 3 glow plug had broken.
The spigot that sticks out, that the tube slides onto had sheared off at the base, the tubes were all very brittle and extremely hard.
Any idea what this gizmo thing is, or how i get a replacement, same with the brittle tubes, i think i need to replace them all.

She starts really nice now and i am not aware of any issues when i drive even with the brocken gizmo thing

Any ideas..

Vacuum solenoids for cold start/ac? - http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 1of02.html

Various repairs possible, using parts from biros, roll pins etc if the solenoid itself still operates when 12v applied across it.
Front one should raise the revs slightly when the ac kicks in or cold start upto @60 degrees c, the second one is the cold cold start & kicks in below 20 degrees c to raise the revs a smidge higher than the cold start. if there're breaks in the system, none of it will be working probably as it'll be losing vacuum. the rear 2 solenoids are for the egr.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

at the prices you will get quoted i dont think you will want to replace them all.
if you are a diesel 2.5 and are struggling send me a pm, i have some spares,or failing that you can send me ALL the bits and i will repair it.
or you may find them on the petrol mazdas that have egr systems on them,(next to the rocker cover) or some mitsibishies (they are a mitsi part) troopers have them on the drivers side inner wing low down and hidden if you have a good old scrappy near you you should be ok.
put 12 volts to them to test they open/close though as they get condensation in and seize up.
