Throttle Position Sensor on Diesel Injector PUMP

Post by progroup » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:11 pm

I am limited to resolving this because I am blind w/o codes. haven't found any OBD-2 connection or diag wiring. I have tried many reset methods from other Mazda MPVs with ECU's; no luck!

The TPS circuit may be the culprit here. HOLD flashes until I rotate the TPS full stop in counter-clockwise direction. Rotate clockwise 1/3 travel, the HOLD light starts flashing again! I have not performed any voltage tests at ECU block yet re TPS.

A mystery for me to solve w/o repair or diag data. Can you help me out? :cry: :cry: :cry:

The procedure is in several places search for +TPS +VOLTAGE;
see here for example http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... PS+VOLTAGE

Hi Geoff!
I am still unresolved as I haven't used your info fully to diag the problem. Last try ended up shorting the ECU 15amp fuse while probing each connector and harness assembly. I believe I switched power on too soon after bathing the connectors in electrical cleaning solvent. didn't allow sufficient drying as there was no compressed air available to speed up the process.

All this nonsence arose upon re & re of the FIP. Haven't experienced any related electrical faults before. Other than the driver's door wiring harness discovery of severed wires [loss of door lock control & both windows], there hasn't been much else.

Allan has a used TPS for $30 and a used ECU for $50; but I'd rather get new costing $160+ for electrical components. I don not need an ECU at the moment. What's your take on this? What is a prudent step in your opinion?

Cheers,
Dave
