Loss of top speeds and power (2.5tdi)

Post by miraz » Mon Feb 13, 2012 6:53 pm

Hi everyone, had a problem when going at motorway speeds on recent trip. Basically at one point, we couldn't get above 60mph. The engine 'hicupped' a bit and the power felt jerky and inconsistent. After stopping for a night it was a bit better the next day but were limited to about 70, most noticable on hills. When depressing the accelerator to the floor through the last cm or so the engine races by a couple of hundred revs, but no increase in power. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance #-o

Hi,

It would be worthwhile changing/cleaning fuel/air filters.

Cheers.

Sounds like a partially blocked fuel filter to me.

Could try checking to see if the big air pipe coming up from the inter-cooler hasn't come adrift http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
from the elbow here..? (part 13-230) http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html

Had this happen to me, the van will feel it's weight....
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
