Having worked and camped at lots of festivals gonna take our Sally ( named after Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas) to a festival this year ( not sure which one yet) although not sure if I want to camp outside of the festival and avoid the nicking, lack of sleep etc that I am used to with festival tent camping. Any experiences/tips anybody wants to shared?

All depends on what festival you're thinking of going to

We've been to Lattitude, Womad and Wytchwood regularly and never have problems. However, these festivals are very tame and family orientated

Would suggest though that you conserve your leisure battery by switching off the fridge at night so it lasts the 4 days

I'm not quite sure where to start

Festivals by Bongo are soooo much better than by tent!

Only time we went to Womad we had to be towed in and towed out due to slight mud issue. Kent festivals sound up my street - are we looking at chilled music ? Not into dance/rave/hiphop. Don,t have a fridge to switch off but would like to get a shee pee.

That's the draw back of having seven members in the band, it's so hard bringing us all together sometimes,
but Hey Ho! there's always another gig around the corner

For the last 5 years we have been to the Tartan Heart Festival near Inverness. We love it, so relaxed and great fun for the kids. Twice we stayed in the campervan field in our old motorhome (1975 Toyota Hiace).

One of the years the organisers thought it would be a good Idea to put us in a field at the bottom of a hill. Sunday rolls round and the smell of clutch filled the air, VW vans and 4x4s towing caravans really struggling back up this hill. My van though was good as gold, pootled up the hill as if nothing was wrong at all.

We had the Freda last year but got it too late to get the ticket for the camper field. Bought this years tickets nice and early so really looking forward to putting her to proper use. I would like to think I'll not go back to the Family tented area because of the noise and how overcrowded it gets.

There is a Solar Sauna
Tickets go fast

What inspired Chris and Myself to get a bongo was when we went to the Autistic Festival 2008. We took a gas stove, water, tea bags, coffee and milk. But we didn't plan to stop over in a shogun Pinin. However we did stop over in the car park. No other cars or vans moved either as we awoke in the morning and looked around. we thought we would have been moved on.

The festival was great, family atmosphere, it was wet and windy, band line up great. I was disappointed and felt a bit sad for Melanie though. To be fair she did own up to not having the voice she once had. No she didn't. Fairport convention and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull did wonderfully though.

Bongo has been to quite a few festivals since with us and has enjoyed them couple at Leeds and mostly North. We have a converted so is pure luxury for such events.

We go to quite a few festivals. Some though take the piss when charging extra for campervans.

We've been to Wickerman for several years in a row now but are shocked the price of campervan tickets. This year the entrance price is £90 including camping and car parking - pretty reasonable for a two day festival. However, should you wish to park your Bongo in the campervan field it'll cost you an extra £30. If you want hook-up that'll be £80 instead. We did once pay for the priviledge of staying in our camper and there were less toilets etc than in the standard camping fields.

We'll probably be going again this year but won't be paying these extra fees. It will be hard to resist the temptation to sneak into the Bongo in the regular car park for a decent night's kip.

Big thumbs up to festivals like Solfest who do not charge extra.

We go here http://www.weyfest.co.uk (Tilford nr Farnham Surrey), and here http://www.bluesonthefarm.co.uk. Appledram, Nr Chichester. Both are small events , Weyfest is the bigger of the two. We enjoy them and took the Bongo to both last year. oh and here www.star-inn.com/blues2012.htm,
Very small pub festival but good too.

Small world Cazzy - Baz Pethers who is performing at the Bentworth Blues weekend is the chap who wanted to hire my Bongo for the event (no he isnt having it lol!)

Here is another event which he is playing at http://www.bluesonthemeadow.com/ with his main band http://www.benpooleband.com/ - and luckily its staged in the field across the road from my house

This is a great event in the meadow of a private house and extremely relaxed with camping allowed by prior arrangement some up and coming names on the bill this year.
