Useful information if you want to leave the campsite and visit the attractions. Edinburgh is both hell and expensive to park in, especially in a Bongo.
All day unlimited travel tickets currently cost £3.50 for an adult and £2.00 for a child.

I know it's a bit damp at the moment, but hardly anyone has booked for this event. Only 5 so far, 25 pitches still available.

And the No. 11 goes from just outside the campsite on the main road. Don't be fooled by the signs that make it look like they drive in to the reception area!MountainGoat wrote:All day unlimited travel tickets currently cost £3.50 for an adult and £2.00 for a child.
Going into town, you need to cross the main road (it's busy / fast) and go about 50yds along to the stop. The one right by the entrance goes the 'wrong' way. (You can get on, and go along to Hyvots Bank where it turns round)
I'm going to miss this one unfortunately, I'll be back in the middle of the North Sea.

Not very far from me, I could even get there on the bus for free. Even then I might not even have a Bongo when the time comes round as June now wants a motorhome. Will decide nearer the time which way to go depending on the takeup. I list of who is going would help.

Please note that due to lack of interest in this event, we have now handed 15 pitches back to the site.
We have 7 pitches left.

Hedging my bets as there is a chance that I will have moved up to a motorhome on the bosses orders by the time the day arrives. I will get there for day either in the Bongo or the Jeep. Maybe even on the bus if I am short of pennies.

Hi
Surprised at the shallow response...Edinburgh is a great place...only 3 cities I've ever liked are Amsterdam, Eindhoven, and Edinburgh ...you can put most other cities in a bag and shake 'em as far as I'm concerned!!!!!
Go on...book up and enjoy!!!!
Cheers
Helen

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2012
Yep. I agree with Helen, massive amount to do in and around Edinburgh or to the immediate South. Come on folks, give it a go!!!
Cheers
David.
p.s. Stockholm is quite nice as well, and even although one of the lads used to live just round the corner from me, I would rate Abba ahead of The Bay City Rollers
(But I digress)

Re: Scottish Bongo Bash 2012
Sure is Helen......but when you have been there 50+ times and can get there and run around free on the buses you struggle to find somewhere new to go that does not cost too many bawbees. For a family to get in Edinburgh Castle it costs an arm and a leg, to think that it was all free when I was a kid....Edinburgh is a great place

Morton Hall right next to the cementary would not have been my choice. I would have prefered Drum Mhor campsite at Musselburgh myself. Located in the walled garden of a former monastery and right next to the beach. Main consideration for me is of course having a pal of mine living just half a mile a way, useful if the weather goes belly up.

I tried them but they were not interested in a block booking in July.MountainGoat wrote:Morton Hall right next to the cementary would not have been my choice. I would have prefered Drum Mhor campsite at Musselburgh myself.
