Sorry, bit of a cheek as it’s my first post, so hope you don’t mind me announcing the following event on the forum. I have been attending as many events as possible to see owners personally, but unfortunately with so many events being cancelled the Great British Summer has beaten me. I now have no choice but to turn instead to the forums to ‘spread the word’. If however the moderators feel they need to delete this announcement, then fair enough.
Here’s something different for you …
6-7 October 2012
ADVENTURE OVERLAND … the national 4x4, bike & trekking travel show
Held at Whilton Mill, nr. Daventry, Northamptonshire NN11 2NH, ADVENTURE OVERLAND aims to span the entire overland and adventure travel scene whether it be organised tours/safaris or independent travel.
Encompassing all forms of travel without bias, it will include everything from 4x4's to all-wheel-drive expedition trucks, campervans to motorhomes, trailbikes/enduro/dirt bikes to long-distance tourers, mountain bikes to tandems, adventure sports in the UK to treks, tours, expeditions and explorations in far-flung foreign lands.
It also incorporates an element that's linked to all these forms of travel - bushcraft - a specialised field encompassing survival skills, wilderness training, bushlore, tracking, navigation and first aid training, knowledge and application. In a nutshell, it's a new type of all-embracing event that has never been held before.
There will also be free entry to all overland vehicles/campervans/trucks over 3.5 tonnes as display vehicles, so please inform any owners you may know.
Here’s hoping you will be able to join us in October!

One final but important point, should any owners of Bongo/Freda owners wish to camp at ADVENTURE OVERLAND, they will receive an automatic 30% advance-booking discount if booked before 1st September 2012. The reason for this discount? It’s simply because 30% is the ‘before March’ rate, and as I’ve only just informed you, to charge full price would be unfair. Just write on the Booking Form “Bongo”, “Freda” or whatever model you own to receive 30% off your camping fee. Ta!

If it helps, here is the event's latest Press Release ...
“Celebrities at Adventure Overland Show”
Granted, they may not be the type of celebs who have a regular spot in the gossip magazines and daily rags, but these ones are ‘real’ in every respect – in fact they are nothing short of royalty in the field of adventure travel!
By way of a free attraction at Adventure Overland … the national 4x4, bike & trekking travel show at Whilton Mill, nr. Daventry Northamptonshire the weekend of 6-7 October 2012, major players in the overland scene will be giving talks and lectures at the event.
Aptly named the ‘Been There, Done It’ Seminar Sessions, speakers include none other than Chris Scott (author of the overlander’s bible - “Sahara Overland” and countless books covering 4x4 and bike travel - http://www.sahara-overland.com), Austin Vince (a legend on two and three wheels – the latter being a Ural 3x2 sidecar combination - http://www.austinvince.com), Peter & Eileen Crichton (who have driven around the world the equivalent of four times in their trusty Land Rovers - that’s roughly 200,000 miles), Lois Pryce (highly respected in the bike scene as an authoress and adventurer - http://www.loisontheloose.com) … and there a lot more besides!
Further attractions include bushcraft demonstrations, a floodlit 2-hr enduro race Saturday evening in professional twin-engine karts (Whilton Mill boasts an internationally-acclaimed national karting circuit), plus a young couple will be embarking from the show on Sunday on an epic overland trek from Nord Kapp in Norway, the most northerly point in Europe, to Cape Agulhas near Cape Town, the southernmost tip of Africa – see http://www.kapp2cape.net
