Radio Bongo...

I've just replaced the strange array of electronic equiptment and Japanese audio bits that frequented my dash.
The new stereo works well with the exception of a radio signal.
The aerial antennae is plugged in but does not seem to be giving any kind of signal...
Does anyone have experience to share that might help resolve the issue?

Check back along the aerial cable there is another plug and socket just under the the dashboard area where the cable rises up the side of the window screen;

Hi Geoff,
Checked this back - seems to be joined - The cable itself is covered in foam so it's quite hard to see, feels well joined when I push the ends together.
Is there a way to test that there is a join through to the aerial?

You could test for continuity with a multi meter..

It might be worth checking that the radio itself is actually working, push a wire into the aerial socket at the rear about 30" long do you receive any signals ?
If that works OK, then its probably worth checking with a meter for two things;
1. That there is continuity between the end of the plug and the external aerial.
2. There is NO continuity between the end of the plug and earth/chassis of the vehicle.

Found the fault, the aerial lead was disconnected at the joint shown on the wiring diagram. I'd not traced the lead far enough along before. Thanks for the info.

Its been reported a couple of times before so its a reasonable bet that would be the cause
