2.0 ltr coolant flush.
any advice on how to flush and renew coolant on a 2.0ltr petrol? I can't seem to find any bleed pipe as shown on you tube vid and iv'e noticed a lot of sediment and bits in header tank so I want to clean things up before it causes a problem. thanks in advance.

Re: 2.0 ltr coolant flush.
The engine manual refers to 'attaching' the air removal hose to the water outlet, so if you haven't got one, you'll need to find some suitable piping.

I think in all other respects you can flush it in the same way as documented on the forum.

If the air removal hose referred to is the pipe attached to the bongo under the passenger seat on 2.5 deisels, you wont find one,as the 2ltr petrol doesnt have one.

It's in the 2.0 litre engine manual (where the above image came from), but I've never worked on that engine myself so haven't been able to have a poke around to see what is what.

I've rechecked the manual and it looks like I may have looked at the J5 section rather FE, so I may have given you a bum steer about the existence of bleed pipe
. So, if you don't have one, you're probably ok

when you say "OK" Simon, if there's no bleed pipe how do you bleed the system? I am thick I know!!

Re: 2.0 ltr coolant flush.
Well, if the manual is correct, then Mazda didn't fit a bleed pipe to the 2 litre engine which would indicate it does not need bleeding. Seems strange as the majority of the cooling system is the same on all 3 engines so you would have thought all would use the same process. Probably better for a fellow 2 litre owner to provide a definitive answer.
Re: 2.0 ltr coolant flush.
When i bought mine imsure Mike at Wheelquick told me that the 2ltr engine is self bleeding

Yep. No bleed tube on the 2L FE engine. We had our coolant replaced a couple of years ago and the process was straight forward according to the manual. I don't have our manual in front of me, but we bought ours from the bongo shop, may be worth getting one.

Re: 2.0 ltr coolant flush.
bought a manual when we got the bongo, but its just the owners manual, nothing in it about changing coolant. i'll have a look in bongo shop. thanks folks, I love this forum, you can allway's guarantee you'll get help from someone.

Re: 2.0 ltr coolant flush.
Its the workshop manual you need not the owners one. The manual comes in two volumes. Volume 1 covers engine coolant etc, Volume 2 covers bodywork running gear etc. I think? The FE engine and the V6 are covered in the same manual if I remember correctly, so don't get confused by looking at the V6 part for the bleed, as I did
