3way pipe on cylinder head
Hi there,
I'm fitting a new cylinder head to my 2.5Td WL bongo. The head has been provided with a new 2 way tap in style metal pipe which goes to the bleed hose and coolant pipe. My old head also had a two way pipe.
I've seen that some heads have the 3 way metal pipe. Does anyone know what the 3rd branch is for?
Thanks,
Ash.

Third one goes to the turbo as I recall.

Looks like you have the Ford Ranger tree, the bleed hose branch is missing.

Don't wish to hijack the thread but this might be relevant to Ash.rita wrote:Looks like you have the Ford Ranger tree, the bleed hose branch is missing.
I have recently had a new head through Ian Taylor and he has fitted a two way T so no way to bleed. Now I'm sure in the future the van will need bleeding at some point so am thinking of making up a replacement for the pipe between the valve and the turbo, fitting a T joint in the middle and then a bleed hose. I wouldn't fit this now but keep it in the van for when / if a bleed is required at which point it could replace the standard hose.
So all the replacement hoses I'd need are available for about £50, inc the end bung. Any views on buying these or just making a set up from generic hoses? if the latter is the preferred option then what spec. hoses would I need?
Cheers
Dave

Re: 3way pipe on cylinder head
For under £25 you could just fit the correct 3 way part:

Currently out of stock at BongoBits, but I believe they can be ordered from Mazda.
Bear in mind, conventional coolant should be replaced every 2 years so you will need to be able to bleed it on a regular basis, and of course you never know when you might need to do one at the roadside in the event of a problem.

Weller, how does Ian Taylor expect you to bleed the system now, I would ask him. If he does not come up with a reasonable answer I would ask him to fit the correct part. I am quite surprised that a Bongo Specialist would do this unless it was a temporary measure or if he told you of another bleeding option that did not require the bleed hose..
Good luck.
