Broken anti roll bar bracket

Post by egor617 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 3:20 pm

Hi,

Bongos thrown another wobbler, the drivers side anti roll bar bracket has snapped.

Could someone link where i can get a replacement, also is it worth replacing anything else whilst i'm at it like the whole anti roll bar?

Plenty available, probably best to replace the rubber bush as well.

Re the other part you could always "Jack up the Mirrors and replace the Van"

Hi
Anti-roll bar bushes and brackets are available in the Club Shop...Do remember that you always replace both bushes and brackets at the same time
Cheers

As in nearside and offside?

Balls i only ordered 1 bracket/bush set yesterday.

Will i be doing any damage using the bongo around town with the broken bracket?

Hi
Yes...nearside and offside...ALWAYS...as for doing damage, all you'll do is roll a bit more...but truth to tell, I broke an anti-rollbar on my type 2 and drove around on a fortnight's holiday with no harm....just don't race around

Thanks for the replies , after the bongo next job is sort the anti roll bar links in the jeep grand cherokee.

Anyone who thinks the bongo is bad for mpg should try a jeep! 24mpg doing 65 on motorway.

Hi
I have a Jeep Cherokee...Love it...2.5 CRD...excellent MPG...just about the same as the Bongo...great machine, but I'd like the 3.7 petrol!...I have my eyes on a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 5-door...eventually....YUM

mines the 4.0 straight 6 makes the bongo look frugal, it is however a lot of car for £1000 and wafts nicely on the motorway.

Hi
Ah...a 6 cylinder!...It reminds me of a 6 cylinder Land-Rover Safari Series 3, I once had....it used to do about 15 MPG....12 seater...nice and roomy!

Do as Helen says, keep your speed down. Your anti roll bar is ineffective, if you need to take evasive action at speed your Bongo will oversteer (try to spin). Forewarned is forearmed.

Sorted, turns out it was the link arm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-BONGO-F ... 2337f6878e

So all's well on the bongo front.
