Bongo windscreens?

Post by Stargazer » Fri May 23, 2014 1:43 pm

Our Bongo just came back from its MOT, we have an advisory note about a chip on the windscreen and it got me wondering...How easy is it to get a new windscreen for a Bongo? I am thinking maybe it would be worth getting this chip repaired just in case??

They are readily available & you should be able to get one fitted for whatever the excess for windscreen cover is on your insurance policy. Typically, this is £60 or £70 vs. over £200 to buy screen yourself with fitting charged extra. Chips can only be repaired properly if attended to straight away. Once dirt & water gets in there, they usually wont offer any guarantee on the work.

If you go for a new Windscreen..... tell them it's a Mazda MPV one....yes it's the same one...and they will want to know the colour of the tint....some will offer top tints too

we had a new one fitted in ours by autoglass. their central booking system was an arse but the guys in the local depot were good as gold. would you you believe it but we picked up a MASSIVE chip right in the middle of the drivers field of vision a couple of days before it was due to go in for paint on the a pillars...whats the chances of that?!! autoglass popped the screen , then went back a couple of days later to fit the new one after paint was done. brilliant service and for no extra charge! as long as you have cover , go for a new screen , happy days.

Just in the process of getting my Bongo ready for sale. Sods law got me when a rock from a passing lorry took out my windscreen last week and so I can confirm that Autoglass takes £70 for a new green tinted screen (insurance paid the rest) .Hassle free experience and they did a great job Technician who called at my house to do the job rightly recommended fitting new wipers too but I already had them in me shed ready to pop on
