Dash Switch Bulbs

Post by Mark Elvin » Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:19 am

Does anybody know where to get the really small bulbs that illuminate the dash switches (heated rear window, foglights etc) please?

There are several types. The ones in instrument panel are widely available at most car accessory shops, but individual switches vary and can be more tricky. Lots of info on thr forum

This is a post by Missfixit, might be of use to you.

Bulbs for dash switch illumination & climate control http://www.maplin.co.uk.
Coloured subminiature bulbs 3.2 mm dia - PG79L (green)
clear wire terminal type bulbs 3.17mm dia- BT43W. both of these are the same size as the window blind switches & will fit the climate control, but the clear bulbs are too small for the green "condom" from the climate control bulbs to stay on.
Clearwire bulb 5mm dia - WQ13P should be big enough to hold the green "condom", but I haven't tried them. <edit> I have tried them now, slightly too big to fit through the hole ( tore the condom :( ), could probably be opened out slightly?- I couldn't be bothered <edit>
The thin flexible wire legs are necessary to be able to refit them into the holders
12v coloured leds with integral resistors also available from them 3mm & 5mm, need a little bit of modification & soldering to fit as the legs are too thick & inflexible to fit directly back into the holders.
