Awning advice

Post by Barrypud » Thu May 12, 2016 8:38 pm

We want to buy an awning for our Bongo. We have looked at tailgate awnings which we quite like such as the Outdoor Revolution Cayman Tail Drive Away Awning. Has anyone any experience of these as opposed to side awnings - pros and cons?

I've not tried a tailgate awning but my guess would be...

Pros:
Good if you have a rear conversion that allows you to cook from outside.

Cons:
It might make the unit too long for regular pitches.
The door would need space to be pulled down (sliding door is easier)
Depending on layout access might not be easy - I wouldn't fancy going out of the sliding door to then walk round to the awning

Generally I'm struggling to think of much that would be a benefit - the Bongo is perfectly designed for a side awning.

A few more details about your Bongo layout might help too.
