Absorption fridge not cooling...

Post by Vrichings » Sat May 28, 2016 9:26 pm

Hello,
My fridge doesn't seem to be cooling....whether powered by mains or leisure battery. It makes clicky noises when I unplug it, like coolant noise. Don't think I have a coolant leak as there is no smell at all.

I have changed the fuse in the plug.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Do you have a make /model or a picture ? Bit difficult to diagnose a problem on unknown equipment!

It doesn't have a make anywhere! It was in the van when I bought it. I know it's absorption as it's silent and can run 3 ways.
I was wondering if there is anything that commonly happens to this type of unit which stops it cooling.
Is it worth taking it out and tipping it upside down?

Sorry I can't give more info....

Your beer might fall out if you do that :)

Absorbtion fridges require a source of heat which is typically electric or gas. If it doesn't work on any of the three sources of heat then I would suspect a problem on the refrigerant side. If you are going to remove it, there should be some manufacturers details round the back which should help with further investigation.

Thank you. Looked today and removing it will mean dismantling the cupboard, so have decided to leave that until after the half term trip. Got a mini fridge from Argos for this trip and using the fridge as an expensive cupboard!

Will post again when I've got the thing out!
