I got to thinking the other day (day dreaming

) how to get more space from a Bongo then I thought about cut and shut! taking the last section of a scrapper and welding it to yours making it a stretch version

quite a task but I have seen it done on other vehicles with pieces put in and some taken out. I think it would be cool & definitely unique. Obviously a challenge
maybe it has been tried already ??

Could be done I agree a long wheel base bongo
Would be a big hangover behind the rear wheels tho
Or you'd have to be sorting a longer rear prop shaft if you moved the wheels back ( big job then , brakes etc )
I used to love the shortend split screen campers ( when they chopped a few feet out the middle of the bus )
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Well you could put a double axle in or cut out a mid section out of the donor van welding up the sliding door then slam it in between yours. Not saying it would be easy but worth a punt. trying it with two scrappers first tho'

What you don't want is a No.3 axle with no drive.
It will take weight from the No.2 and you'll loose drive on all but smooth tarmac.

So is there a front wheel drive option that could be used? then you just use two trailing axles or modify a transit one

I am wondering if you could use down-rated progressive wound springs in the third axle.
Or use 4wd Bongo with rear drive disconnected.
I did a very crude cut and paste job on an Ebay image and providing you really squint it looks very sexy..
The ATF would still need some thought.

First attempt should be with a tintop to get the basics right, then consider an elevating roof but maybe a fixed high top

Or a tin top front and an ATF rear section?
