Header tank replacement???

Post by Cobbvo » Tue Feb 21, 2017 2:11 pm

Hi all was just wondering if I need to bleed the system if I change the header tank ? As I have a leak ,looks like a crack where the pipes go on .

I would have thought that if you clamp the outlet and inlet pipes carefully, replace the tank and then carefully refill the tank, before letting the engine turn over you would be OK, but think I would also watch it very carefully for some time afterwards!

Yes you'd think that if the engine is cold and not running and any pressure in the system has been released by the removal of the header tank, that air will not get into the system if the header tank is the highest point and both pipes are at the same level.
