Gas strut spec

Post by davidf » Tue May 16, 2017 1:57 pm

Does anyone know the correct spec for the gas struts to lift the Auto FreeTop roof - ie what figure should they be pressurised to? Recently replaced mine but have been told the roof is slow to rise.

thanks

Are you running the engine as you raise the roof?

It takes a fair bit of power, and generaly isn't fast. 8)

Mine with new gas struts takes about 25 seconds https://youtu.be/NOdxmvxyJco

If you've got new gas struts (presumably matched to the original part number) and the roof is still struggling it is probably another problem. The running gear can clog and seize. The motor wiring connections can develop resistance and drop volts. The motors themselves can lose power.
Assuming you have the engine is running, I'd start with checking that the lifting mechanism is clean and runners run freely.

Thanks everyone. I've timed the roof and it takes about 25 seconds with the engine running, so sounds as though I was worrying unnecessarily..
