New member needing some help
Hello all, I'm a new member here. My dad has just got a 1999 1.6l bongo. And we're wanting to do some work on it.
I've had a browser and tried to do my research on this forum and looking for help with something.
I've wired many alarms in cars and wanting to instal an immobiliser and alarm to the bongo. Wire location data sheets can be a great aid to finding the correct wires to allow you to install the alarm.
However you can't find them anywhere. Many because it's a odd model or because of its age.
I seen a section on this forum which was a manual for wiring. But when you try to press the link stated in the thread, nothing happens. Also the post in question was from 2009.
Would anyone have the wire location data sheet to help us locate the relevant wires needed and to be able to install an alarm?
Many thanks

Welcome aboard!
First which type of Bongo do you have the term "Bongo" is actually a range of vehicles, the ones we discuss here are primarily the Friendee (or Ford Freda - same thing). However none of the engines are 1.6l there is the 2.5l Turbo Diesel WL-T engine, the 2.5l petrol V6 J5-DE engine or the 2l petrol FE-E engine. The full range of Bongo's is listed here on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Bongo

Hi ahh ok thank you
So I do think it's a friendee as according to the wiki page and what you described that matches what he owns. I'm from the UK and it was sold as a Bongo. It was a Japanese import though as the Speedo was in kph were we operate as miles per hour. So a conversion dial has been fitted on the dashboard to keep our speed correct.
Based on this is there any good diagrams that locate or identify which wires are which to aid installing an alarm? Many thanks

There are wiring diagrams online but you will need a browser capable of running the old Flash system see here https://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum ... 68#p723668
The installation manual for the alarm will tell you what you need to access, but bear in mind that its not a good idea to publish information on how to tap into the systems!

Re: New member needing some help
Your missing the numerical code ? There should be a 6 digit code that specifies the precise vehicle following the SG5W.
I've not seen the leading GF code either.
Check the drivers door side as well as the passenger side, otherwise on the scuttle plate below the drivers position when you lift the bonnet.

Thank you!
Is this just a parts database website or is it a wiring diagram datasheet so I can identify the wires on the looms?
Many thanks

No its just the Mazda EPC parts database. There was a set of manuals that Ian had for the wiring but they were not translated, hence I took that on as a project and the web site mentioned. Then with the demise of Flash it became a problem until the Chinese browser became available, seems to be working well.
