Report Back From 2025 AGM

Post by Ian » Fri Jul 18, 2025 9:23 am

Sorry this is late.

The 21st Annual General Meeting of the Bongo Fury Club was held in the marquee at the Bongo Bash, Stourport on Severn on Sunday 22nd June. Although we had good weather all week the AGM was held in a sudden deluge and everyone had to squeeze in to the marquee.

1. Ian opened the meeting and explained why he hadn't been around that much. He had lost the sight in one eye. (On return home this was diagnosed as a detached retina).
2. Including all Bongos and other campervans/caravans etc the Saturday evening head count showed 115 pitches being occupied.
3. Ian thanked Bobby Poll for organising this year's event. Everyone seemed happy with the new arrangements.
4. Ian notified the meeting that as of 31st March the club had a deficit of just over £500. But this will be covered by an increase in membership fees from 1st April.
5. There were 1,084 members on 31st March. This compares with 1,373 on 31/3/24.
6. Everyone gave a warm round of applause to all those who mad this year's Bash such a success. Too many to list here......you know who you are!
7. It was announced that this year's charity, in memory of Marianne Maynard, was once again the International Committee for the Redcross. Including late donations a total of £161 was raised.
8. Bongonaut of the Year was awarded to Bobby Poll. Bobby has agreed to organikse the meetings at EWallingford, Stourport and Glastonbury in 2026.
9. Next year's meetings will be in Derbyshire (April), Thames Valley (May), Bongo Bash (17th to 22nd June) and Somerset (September).
10 The planned Welsh Bongo Bash in August 2026 has now been cancelled as the site no longer takes block bookings.
11. Finally, Ian reminded those prenet that there were still plenty of places available for the 2 remaining events this year in Norfolk and Cornwall.

The meeting closed and everyone got wet.

Got wet and went to the pub.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.
