I have put the Bongo into a local motor engineering works to deal with the No.1 manifold stud which has sheared.
I sourced the gaskets and new stud from AVA and it went in this morning to get the job done. This afternoon I get a call from the garage saying they have had a bad time removing the EGR pipe (in order to remove the turbo to get to the manifold). The outcome is that I shant have the Bongo back till Monday, who knows what else might be found once they get further into the job!

Am I getting waffle from the garage (about EGR removal pipe), or does that seem about right.

Waits with baited breath...

Thanks,
Tim

My local garage do a great job, but I never get it back the same day, they are so busy, lot of members are blocking the egr these days, tempted myself

I drilled out and put a new bit of stud in the No1. Didn't remove anything except loosened the heat shield. Put a bit of metal sleeve in the manifold hole to help centre the drill (cobalt/carbide), drilled a 6mm hole first then 8mm, helicoil and then a bit of 8mm stud. Whole job took about 3 hours. Been lovely and quite now for 600 miles. You can get at this stud without removing loads of stuff, I think I also swung the alternator out of the way as I was replacing the belts anyway.

P.S. If your gasket is US then I suppose they would have to remove the ERG. Mine was o.k. as it happened

Should be EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve.

Thanks for that I thought I might still have been looking at the acronyms postings in off messages and missed something.
