Stuck Side Door

Post by ScubaBongo » Sun Mar 15, 2009 6:44 pm

Hey Guys,

My side door is stuck closed after a fully flat battery, just like in this post: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=28488

Does anyone have any advice on how to rectify it?

I found an entry on "FixYa" relating to the Mazda MPV side door. I'm wondering if there's any crossover..

http://www.fixya.com/cars/t1262577-remo ... door_stuck

Thanks as always

You can give it a thechnical thump along the door and see if it jolts the mechanism to start or

disconnect the battery and reconnect, it that can help or

take the inner panel off the door and try to click the micro switchwhich will reset it or pull the cable in side the door to release the catch which again may breath life back into the mechanism

That's what we had to do, it's a pain. :)

Thanks guys.

Already tried dis/reconnecting battery, no luck.

I'll try the "technical thump" rountine next...

taking the door panel off does indeed seem a pain. Can this problem rear it's ugly head every time you disconnect the battery then?

Hi
No...It doesn't happen every time you disconnect. I have removed the battery on several occasions. The Bongo Thump often works

Tried a bit of Bongo Thumping, but no luck.

Exactly were should I hit it? (Neighbours must think I've gone mad, randomly punching my Bongo!)

I have a horrible feeling I'm going to be taking a door apart soon :(

Thump it towards the bottom rear quarter af the door looking from inside if it works you will hear the lock return when you hit it.

not entirely sure what worked, but it was something like waggling one of the metal rods inside the door mech, while operating the handle, a bit of punching, and some swearing.

It's sorted. :D :D
