oddly, mine started working yesterday.

it now goes up AND down.

perhaps the half can of wd40, the grease and psychic encouragement for the past 3 months worked..... :o

These must have been an optional extra as most Bongos have no sign of one being removed. You see some that have a triangular plate on the bumper where one used to be, but they are not common.

Mine certainly never had one. I saw it before it was made UK road legal. No marker and no sign one was ever there. Probably they are needed more on urban Bongos where parking spaces are tight. Mine came from the Japanese equivalent of Wales. A lot of mountains and not that many people.

Also are they only on older Bongos? I would have thought front parking sensors would have done the same job more efficiently.
