Post by You've Been Bongod » Thu Apr 08, 2010 2:29 pm

my bongo battery light and headlights flicker every now and then have had battery and alternator checked by kwik fit and they say both ok

Personally I'd have it checked out by an expert who knows something about electrics.

If it is a flicker on tickover, It maybe just needs a slight increase in the tickover speed.

id have another opinion on the alternator, has there been any other wires tapped into the alternator circuit.

all wires intact
runs fine
starts fine even when parked up for 2 weeks without starting
alternator also looks like its fairly new

i wonder if they have caught a wire when fitting ?

Is there a pattern to the flicker...? Like when hitting a speed bump/pothole?? Is this more likely to happen on a dry day?

Might be worth looking to see if it has one of those courtesy headlight dippers that maybe disabled, but on the blink?

The cynical side of me would take the view that if KF were to supply Bongo alternators, they'd have flogged you one on the spot.

Sounds like worn brushes to me mate.
