Leisure Battery compatability
Apologies if this has been covered before.
I am planning to fit a LB. My main battery is 75ah - does the LB need to be the same or can I fit a 110ah? I hope to fit a split charger too.
LB or not LB, that is the question.

Bigger the better
110ah will be fine, may be a tight squeeze but it should fit, if you've got to get aLB tray & split charge, go for the willinton kit.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Leisure Battery compatability
Can you post me a link for the Willinton tray and charge kit, please.

Thanks Kirsty. V. Helpful, as always. x
Re: Leisure Battery compatability
You will have to be very careful with a 110amp as some are too high and the bonnet may short the terminals out when you close it.

Good point. Maybe 100 ish would be safer

Re: Leisure Battery compatability
With willinton's battery tray, this should not be a problem, it's built around a 110ah Numax (which I've got) & I've fitted a couple of other different makes without issue.

SOME m/home 110amp leisure batteries are huge compared to a Numax one and will not fit.scanner wrote:You will have to be very careful with a 110amp as some are too high and the bonnet may short the terminals out when you close it.
I know - I have one in the m/home that will not even fit in the tray, let alone under the bonnet of a Bongo.
All I'm saying is don't just go out and buy any old 110amp and expect it to fit.

Yup. What I do (did) was look up the Numax 100 dimensions online and make sure alternatives don't exceed those dimensions (also how the terminals are arranged - from memory so correct me someone if I'm wrong, you want it so the negative terminal is on the right and at the back). In the end I got a Numax 110Ah 2nd hand off ebay anyway.scanner wrote:SOME m/home 110amp leisure batteries are huge compared to a Numax one and will not fit.scanner wrote:You will have to be very careful with a 110amp as some are too high and the bonnet may short the terminals out when you close it.

However, when I replace it I think I may get an Elecsol 100Ah as it seems to be better suited to higher current drains, should I need that. Have a search for Elecsol on here and you'll see what people have said (Ron Miel especially).
Re: Leisure Battery compatability
With the Willinton kit, the neg lead is at the right, but it can reach the front or back of the battery, as can the pos lead, so either way round will fit. I suppose Neg rear right, pos rear left would give you a tad more headroom above the battery terminals due to the slope of the bonnet. I have mine at the front on a Numax CXV30HMF 113Ah.
