Amateur Bongoer

Post by tgeorge1 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 3:43 pm

Good afternoon,

First let me introduce myself, I am Tom from Telford the proud owner of Samuel L Bongo a 1997 2.5 TD, picture below, bought it a couple of months ago from Ian Taylor in Market Drayton. Thought initially I was going to get it converted, but decided that I love the versatility as it is, anyway I think the bed is comfortable.

I did come along to the bash to explore other peoples Bongo's but after waiting for 2 hours for my breakfast from that van I decided to just head home.

With a bit of help and the diagrams from here I have worked out Samuel has a leisure battery, that is linked via fused cable and spliced into the relevant cables coming out the fuse box to power the radio, interior lights & cigarette lighters.

I also replaced the side repeaters after someone reversed into me smashed one, check me out!!!

Just have a couple of pretty basic questions, is it a big job to get the blinds to run off the leisure battery too, there is a funny bonking noise coming from the sliding door (reakon it started after my missus slid it shut a few times 'Its soft close, don't slam i.....oh never mind') how do I get the interior cover off the sliding door? Also it has had a scraping noise coming from the breaks since I bought it, wouldn't of thought it would have low brake pads when I bought it, how do I check if they are low (I know I probably just have to look somewhere, I said I was an amateur.

Cheers

Ok how do I attach a photo

Hi and welcome, the switch is probably rear fog light, turn your headlamps on and try it.

Most likely fitted on import to UK. :D

Fog light, as Bob says.

When you upload the pics to your post, copy the photobucket IMG Code, the bottom one off the drop down menu & paste that straight on here. As long as its no bigger than 640 pixels (you can re-size if too big) it'll post the pic as opposed to just a link.

the switch is indeed the rear foglight switch

Its just as easy as any of the existing ones, the two fuses concerned are;

Rather than actually intercepting / cutting the wires behind the fuse block, just take two more 15 Amp feeds from the added L/B fuse box and plug them in from the front like this by removing the existing fuse and plugging the L/B feeds into the lower part of the fuse socket;

If its a Willinton kit that has been used then you should already have a pair of feeds already existing.
