where are the brake lights?
OK - I know that sounds a bit dim, but my brake lights have both stopped working. Don't know if it's a fuse or spent bulbs, but when I went to have a look at the bulbs just now, I realised that I'm not sure where they are. Are they in the cluster incorporated in the rear door, or the one to the outside of that in the main body of the van. I'm astonished that my owner's manual says absolutely nothing about lights and bulbs, and the Factsheet on bulb changing is very cryptic to say the least.
Re: where are the brake lights?
they are in outer bits on main body
2 screws then leaver outwards
if both are gone check fuse first

Don't forget also that sometimes the brake pedal switch gets "sticky" ......

Re: where are the brake lights?
Thanks guys. The upper brake light on the spoiler is working fine. I'll check the fuse tomorrow, then try the bulbs.
Re: where are the brake lights?
I reckon both double filament bulbs gone!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: where are the brake lights?
Be gentle with me, Supreme Beings. I am confused. I have removed the light cluster at the rear. It contains three bulbs (side light, reversing light and indicator) all of which are working fine.
So . .um . . where is the brake light bulb?

Re: where are the brake lights?
It should look a little like this in side the glass...

If you notice it has two filaments inside.. As Geoff said the one bulb does the same job... the filament for the side/tail light works.. But the brake filament in the same bulb don't!
Have you had a tow bar fitted or any electrical work round the back done recently?

Re: where are the brake lights?
Yup - you were all spot on. I have now replaced both bulbs and everything is hunky-dory. And the ABS warning light has gone out.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
