slow HOLD light on/off,anything to do with vegoil running??

Post by chipvan » Sun Dec 05, 2010 10:11 pm

Had a look on the fact sheet on this matter, just wonder if there is anyway running a twin tank kit for veg oil would effect things at all.not sure if the fuel pump would mesure fuel supply and report fault?

Not had any gear change issues.

Not sure if the speed senser relates to dash speedo?sometimes 30 seems real slow!

Last week i selected the wrong grear the and i thought there was a gear box issue,i selected the s gear and it didnt seem to run the same.

The hold light went away half way through journey home.

cheers guys

Can't see the connection myself Jez. Flashing hold light is generally transmission/drivetrain related or something out of skew with the throttle position sensor . . . .

Have you had any work done on it lately that might have some effect on those bits?

This place Rocks!!

Should be a straightforward fix matey, may just need a bit of an adjustment.

Thats it iam sure ive cracked it!!...thanks

drives much better(and didnt even have preformance issues b4 )pulls through gears better with adjustment.

Remember our trips away in the summer when we got to a duel carrageway with a hill it kept changing up and down gears when put foot down and changing down when you dont want it too..then over reving the engine.leaving you only one option to back off the power and loose speed needed to climb hills

after adjustment it seems to get to 5th and stay there, and pulls like a train there after!! even when foot to floor,at 65 it would change down before when gave it a bit of welly.

100% seems to hold onto gears a bit longer now.noticed before in normal driving would skip through gears quickly, and change down quicker than it really needed when put a bit of power on,sometimes it felt like it would skip down 2 gears.

5th? I wasn't aware 5 speed auto's were ever fitted to Bongo's? Or do you mean lockup?

I am glad the TPS adjustment has sorted it but what you are writing makes no sense whatsoever to a transmission engineer. :? :? You are saying it hold onto gears longer but doesn't change down as often? If you adjust the TPS voltage to make it shift later it will make it more sensitive to downshifting not less. Your description of changing down when you don't want it to can only mean over adjusted or faulty TPS (but you say it was changing up early? :? ) or poor engine power. I suspect the latter as it is the most common reason for transmissions to change down too frequently we see here, accounting for 99% of the causes of this complaint with electronically controlled transmisions.

The article I wrote was to allow the changes to happen earlier and not to kickdown when accelerating at motorway speeds

sorry forget every thing i posted,i was a bit over excited to post that i some how fixed it...and made no sence to me now ive looked at it myself!!!

now, when going along at 65 ish and put foot down,it stays in 4th \:D/ (ooops not 5th as there aint one! :? ) ...before it would change down when under a bit more load(when not needed).

as for other twoddle i wrote iam sorry!!

Still a bit of confusion methinks - if you put your foot down at 65 you would hope nothing changes and you stay in LOCKUP...the speed and revs should then be linear. At around 60 it might drop out of lockup and back to 4th (revs increase) then reselect lockup at a higher speed
