AFT Service

Post by jimpearceuk » Sun Jan 02, 2011 11:56 pm

I read WesternWarriors advice about checking ones AFT and while doing this today I noticed a creaking during the last bit of closing, and the roof gently rocks down as it pushes against some friction....is there a recognised service schedule for the AFT mechanism?

None of mine looks greased, should it be? I can't find a how to so I would be happy to write one if you guys have any ideas of what to do?

Thanks Jim

We do lubricate ours regularly with something like luberice. Apply it, then open and close the roof a couple of times, it should stop the creaking.

Sorry, I spelt it wrong, it's lubrice. :) I found THIS LINK which explains what it is. You might try a chain lube if you can't get it, others have used silicone lubricant... You're basically looking for a lubricant that doesn't dry out, and won't damage seals.
