I think i read somewhere about using UV dye to identify coolant leeks
anyone got any info i.e. how to get some, how much it costs, or are there better ways to identify the sourve of the leak?
I am leaking somewhere and going to change hoses but not sure where the leak is

any good garage can do a static pressure test.or you can make your own.
do a search for pressure test kit on the forum.

Re: Finding a coolant leak
Haydn Callow was very generously offering to post small bottles of u/v dye to enquirers, for a modest cost, some while back. Might be worth PMing him. Then of course you need to buy the u/v torch/lamp with which to spot the source of the leakPaulinwales wrote:I think i read somewhere about using UV dye to identify coolant leeks

I recommend this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Torch-Flashligh ... 338&sr=8-4
Worked a treat when I was searching for a leak on my boy's car.
And here for the dye:

Re: Finding a coolant leak
If you have Red coolant in your system then that contains a dye....when it leeches out it shows a pink trace..
along with the bonus that it is as chemically close to factory spec coolant as possible (other than colour - but that's another story
)
