water!!

Post by bongo-babe » Sun Jun 12, 2011 9:49 pm

we drove 150 miles and then we heard a horrid noise and clonking. we then discovered that there was no water left. we filled it up and heaed back. again this has happened since and also noticed this time that the temp gauge had risen. we then discovered that the water had disapeard again. i did leave the fan on hot all the way home whiched kept the temp guage at half way and the odd flicker below towards cooler. any ideas?

i have checked the pipe under the seat and the pipe is in the clip still and seems ok.
i have also checked the oil and its jet black.

im also a girl so should i take it to the bongo dealer or is there soething i can do??

firstly dont drive it
if you got it from a dealer as I know you havent had it long and it is a diesel contact them.

Could be many thing but what it isnt is good

loud noise and clonking?

Are the belts intact? could be the water pump or belts, or much worse.

but do not drive it until its been bled peoperly and checked over by some one who knows what they are looking for

they only gave me 6 months but the garage man is young and im sure i can bat my eye lids. if not do you think that a normal car garage owner would be able to figure it out as i have a friend who owns his own garage. unsure whats best.

The waterworks on a Bongo aren't like a regular car. Once the top up water tank is empty air gets into the system. Topping it up is a fruitless venture.

If your temp guage has gone up & its not been previously been modified, its probably already too late.

I'm happy to be proved wrong but it sounds like head gasket at least, (£400+ for a fix)

Yahoo!!! Bongo is fixed. There was a hole on the pipe under the passenger seat! So thankfully it was a small problem and not a massive expensive.

There are no garages in exeter that i would give my puppy to/recommend :!: to have his waterworks looked at, i do all my own work for that reason. The nearest to us BB would be the hugely recomended allans in plymouth i fear unless things have changed recently. if i can help give me pm i'm in hexecater

Yep sure I got it from Topsham car sales. They do specialise on bongos and import them all the time. Anyway they collected it from home and are alo returning it too. Turns out it's the pipe under the passenger seat it gad perished and was leaking water like a fountain. Despite me checking that anyway it seems with a pressure test or something then it showed it was knackered. I did squidge it and it was a bit I'm crumbly and crackly when I squeezed it. Unsure of costs yet but got to be cheaper than that swear word (gasket)
