My fridge doesn't work

Post by bongofever » Sun Sep 04, 2011 8:19 pm

Hello,

Just been away to a beautiful campsite in Eye called Honeypot, all was perfect except for one thing....my fridge does not work, although I only bought my van in June I have only got the fridge working once, and I didn't do anything different to normal.

I have ready the f.a.q with interest but still have no idea, all I know is that it was working and now it isn't - I can hear a whirring sound when I switch it on but definitely no chill. The fridge is made by Indel B of whom I cannot find anything about on the internet.

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Tina

Teenmal is spot on. The website link is the one you need.
I have one of these and called the number on website for advice on how to wire it. They could not have been more helpful , and talked my sparky through the installation [ in the abscence of instructions as it was second hand].

Elite camper conversions in worksop are one of a few that fit them in their conversions. A quality fridge which you cannot hear running unless you pull it out of the unit and it uses very little power. Give them a ring i'm sure they'll sort it out.

im not sure but it may be one with a detachable compressor. The vitrigo fridge we have in ours had the option so that it makes it easier to install, on ours there were a total of two wires red and black or pos and neg so not exactly hard to wire. may be a possibility that one of the connections have come apart or maybe its degassed itself. Im only guessing here tho with that model.

There are more connectors on the IndelB - seem to recall there are at least 6 on a connector board to choose from so without instructions - not easy.

If distributors cant help an option is call a refrigeration engineer to look at it , i'm lucky i know one and he carries a lot of bits as they are common to many fridges.

You might be surprised - it may not be too bad !

IndelB is an expensive fridge but it doesn't mean it will be an expensive fix.

Just a thought [ sorry if it's an obvious one ] but you have turned the stat up to max haven't you ?

good luck !

& Battery is chucking out enough voltage to power it? some have a low voltage cut out, fans will start, but when the compressor kicks in it drags the voltage below the cut out so it trips out & then cycles the same again.

Thought I would update you all - I now have a working fridge :-)

My very busy brother (an electrician) kindly spared me a few of his minutes today, although I was looking after his children all day so it was the least he could do really......anyway, he thinks it was just a loose connection, all he did was check the connections and hey presto, it came straight on, but how long we will see.

I did call bukh and he was helpful so thanks again for that link too
