With all due respect Mike, you are not the average non technical Bongo owner. But I agree that a temperature alarm is in some ways more universally useful, if you know how to set it up, monitor and interpret it. But your Mason alarm only went off once overheating had started. I would rather be alerted as soon as a level drop occurs.mikexgough wrote:2 years without and with just my Mason and all is well.... plus had a pinhole leak in bleed hose during that time...picked up by slight temp lift indicated on gauge and visual level check/investigationmikeonb4c wrote:You've probably been sorted by now but just to stress, its absolutely essential to learn how to safely check the coolant level in the header tank, and not to let the level get low. A coolant alarm brings huge peace of mind: I wouldn't drive a Bongo without one. Welcome and good luck getting it sorted.

Totally off topic for this thread, but +1 for monitoring pressure first (and level/temp, if so desired).

Out of interest, what warning pattern would you expect to see as coolant level drops due to a pinhole leak in a hose, or maybe poor circulation due to blocked rad, failing water pump etc? Would it be easy for the average owner to understand and act on?Driver+Passengers wrote:Totally off topic for this thread, but +1 for monitoring pressure first (and level/temp, if so desired).
