power steering fluid

Post by mountainmummy » Sun Jul 19, 2015 3:09 pm

Hi

My power steering fluid is on the minimum mark. Can I just use generic power steering fluid and is there anything special I should do or do I just remove the reservoir cap and pour it in.

Cheers.

It is marked with a full line ... Just use normal Dexron auto gear box fluid to top it up ..

Sara, might be a good time to check for a leak and if so it could be beneficial to add some Stop Leak treatments at this point before you top it up with PS fluid.

Good Luck.

If .. you have a leak you can get combined top up fluid and conditioner (seal softener) in the same bottle ..

fYI, you will need 1 litre to fill the whole system after a full drain.
