Split charging
Hi all,
I’m looking to fit a split charging system for the leisure battery on my 2.5diesel Nreg bongo.
I have been looking round the net and there seems to be various systems available from intelligent voltage sensors sytems to B2B systems and prices from £30-£500 what would be your bongonauts recommendations please and why,
Many thanks

Karl Chadwick is said to do a very good kit for Bongos:Razor wrote: Fri Dec 29, 2017 10:33 pm Hi all,

Re: Split charging
Yes some of the Ebay kits and also from web sites have been designed very badly
See here https://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum ... 21#p681521
Karl Chadwicks kits however do fit the bill fine, and if your in the North West area he does have his own workshop.

You could also go the DIY route upgrading the components to your requirements ..

Re: Split charging
I did my first LB/VSR set up using advice and components like these. It didn't work great and it didn't take care of reallocating devices to the LB. Life improved no end when i bought an easy to fit and good to go (Willinton) kit with higher rated VSR and fuse jumpers for redirecting device powering. Yes you could upgrade components but unless budget is v restricted I'd treat myself to a good kit like that offered by Karl.teenmal wrote: Sat Dec 30, 2017 10:42 am You could also go the DIY route upgrading the components to your requirements ..

Re: Split charging
I'm guessing you have pressed the 'release' switch up inside by the light?

Re: Split charging
Yes Engine on, Handbrake on (light lit), then press the release button in the roof itself before using the lower button, it stops halfway for a check, release and press the lower button to continue.

Re: Split charging
Always worth asking on here before chasing shadows.
And at least you didn't pay a garage to search for it.
A good few have been caught by that so don't worry, and we all like a cheap fix.

Thanks one and all,
New problem,The roof alan continues and the red light continues to flas even when the roof is down, have looked at the micro switches that I can see and seem ok any where else I should look befor I start removing bits to check,
Many thanks

Re: Split charging
Almost certainly the limit microswitches, never heard of anything else causing the problem.

Re: Split charging
Great news. Agree with Geoff about the microswitches though its interesting that both appear to have gone on the blink at the same time. Try temporarily jamming them closed with cardboard or similar while roof partially raised and see if first one problem (flashing light) then second problem (beeper) stop. Then go from there.Razor wrote: Thu Jan 04, 2018 8:46 pm Well two problems solved,

Re: Split charging
The two switches at the front are tested by the software independently to make sure that the roof has closed "square" to the roof, it only takes one switch to cause the alarm to keep sounding. Which one is having the problem is "left to the reader to investigate" is I think the wording used to cover the situation
checking the wiring diagrams and testing at the connector if you have access to the module is the simplest way!
