Very distinct possibility - owt seems to be possible with a Bongocrazy uncle gray g wrote:widdowson2008 wrote: The reason I am a bit persistent in asking is that Mike at Wheelquick told me that particular tank is definitely from a 2.5 diesel. Somebody is wrong.Just a thought, but who's to say that the tank that came out of that 2.5 diesel hadn't already been removed from a different bongo, say a 2 litre perhaps?
Good point Ady.Northern Bongolow wrote:hi, are the divisions actually cross braces to stop the exp tank swelling under pressure/heating.things like this are fitted to large fuel/oil tanks to brace the sides so the manufacturers can make them thinner.

I found THIS interesting article on the web, it doesn't answer your question but it's interesting reading.
Could this be what the fuss is all about? The baffled tank is an expansion tank with three chambers or baffles. This tank design allows the thermal fluid to efficiently cool as they are separated through chambers that prevents co-mingling of hot fluids. Thermal systems normally have a heat transfer loop, baffle expansion tanks aim to decrease the degradation rate of thermal fluid due to oxidation.
True - a brilliant findmikeonb4c wrote:What a great findDoone wrote:Sorry Steve, I haven't asked hubby about this, as our paths have not recently crossed when we are both awake.![]()

It looks as though it may answer the baffles question, as it says (amongst other things):
Could this be what the fuss is all about?![]()
Still no idea what the valvey thing is though![]()

Who produced the pics? TGP. He mentioned that he had a tank and I asked him if he would split it so we could see inside - just out of curiosity.Doone wrote:
Whoever split the tank open and passed the photos to Steve may have a pretty good idea what it is. It's always easier if you can see the actual thing.![]()
Thank gawd I stuck to the vague expression 'valvey thing' thenThe Great Pretender wrote:I think the tanks secondary purpose is expansion and degassing the primary function. This would help make sense of the 'maze' of sections and the different size connections. The small 'thing'that sits in front off the small pipe is NOT a valve and not meant to move.

Are you saying that it actually SHOULD be there? Cos if you are, you know what the next question is going to be don't you?The Great Pretender wrote:I think the tanks secondary purpose is expansion and degassing the primary function.
