I-alert dilemma
Hi everyone, now my overheating problems are behind me (I hope) what temperature should I set the I-alert alarm. The I-alert sensor is now taped to the top hose, and after a bit of running about has never gone above 83 degrees C. If I set the alarm to go off at 87 is this a bit low? and will I get n...

picture of Faulty thermostat
this is the 'stat at first glance it looks fine and I'm sure it was fitted by the dealer just before I bought the bongo, very clean and new looking, but on closer inspection it has scratch marks which I think are a result of it sticking. Since I put the new one in the bongo is running a lot cooler, ...

New 'stat fitted gauge still reading a bit high
Following the advice last week I replaced the thermostat (what a kerfuffle) and repositioned the i-alert sensor, it is now taped to the hose on the right hand side of the engine, I also covered it with heat sink compound so it should give a good reading. I changed the coolant although it looked good...

Help needed please thermostat
Hi everyone, following my overheating problems I have bought a Mazda thermostat, I have drained the coolant, could not find the drain plus so removed the bottom hose, so far so good. But I am not sure were the thermostat housing is, is it the horizontal bit that connects to the top hose? I can't fin...

Re: running hot; when should cooling fan be running?
I ran the engine up to temperature the fan cut in at about 93, but that is with the sensor in the "wrong" place. At least I now know the fan is working. Next Saturday I will fit the new stat and change the coolant, this was supposed to have been done before I bought the bongo, it looks goo...

Re: running hot; when should cooling fan be running?
The temperature when running uphill but not booting it was a lot higher (not fully got to grips with the temp. over 100) but when I stopped I put the heater of full and let the engine run before I shut it down. I bolted the i-alert sensor to the middle of the cyl head. I think the readings are OK as...

running hot; when should cooling fan be running?
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help. After reading all the post on here about cooling problems, I fitted a low coolant alarm and did the temperature gauge mod. I found the bongo running hot so I changed the resistor for 110 ohms and the gauge was still at the upper end. Not sure if the sender/gauge...

Re: WHEEL ALIGNMENT/ ON BONGOSTRACKING
In a dim and very distant life I was a car mechanic, when radial tyres came in (yes that long ago) we always used parallel for everything. I have always done this with no problems on any car since then. not tracked the Bongo yet but I will try parallel first.

Re: electric supplies to gadgets and gizmo,s
I wired my coolant alarm to a lead going to the wiper switch, I found locating the power supply the most difficult part of fitting the alarm, I think the cig lighter is live in accessory position, and the wire I used would not take the load. Your best bet is to wire direct to the battery with an in ...

spares kit needed light bulbs hoses etc.
Hi everyone I am putting together an emergency spares kit, I have several hoses and have ordered fan and air-con belts. Can anyone help with bulb types? and if you can think of anything else, that is small enough to keep on board and may take time to get, I would be grateful. I'm thinking that unlik...

Re: Bongo friendly garage in Winchester /Southampton
The best in the area is Discount Trucks who are between Andover and Newbury. They come with a top rating, are Bongo specialists and are the garage I use for my V6. Also recommended are Furze Motors in Burgess Rd in Southampton, next to the McDonalds. I have not used them, but have had them recommen...

Hi everyone just got a bongo camper and need to find a garage in our area that knows about bongos. Also do I need to fit a coolant alarm? and if so why?
Many thanks
